What is procrastination?

Procrastination is the act of putting aside or delaying things that are meant to be done right now. Whereby, you keep postponing things that will bring out urge result later on. You then focus on activities that will not really add value to your ultimate goal.

You have to get rid of procrastination once and for all if you what to achieve something tangible in life. Successful people have the habit of doing the right thing at the right time. They don’t use the time to work, for pleasure.


How to stop procrastination

Here are the 4 basic steps that will help you stop procrastination.


  1. Set a goal: Write out your goal, with a deadline. Break it down into steps, in form of a to-do list. Set your goal to be in present tense, just as if you have already achieved your goal. Read this my article to learn How to Set Goals and Achieve Them.
  2. First-things-first: After setting your goals, you have to put the first-things-first. Pick the most important thing on top of your to-do list. Identify which one is the hardest project on your to-do list. The reason for picking the first-things-first is for you to use your energy when you are at the peak to do the difficult task first. While using less energy for tasks that less difficult. This will help you to become more productive.
  3. Do it now: How to stop procrastination is to go to work now, get into action straight away. Once the flow is there, JUST DO IT anyhow. It doesn’t really matter how you do it, you just have to get it done. It is better to try and fail, than not try at all. You will only be remembered for what you do in life.
  4. Celebrate yourself: Once you are able to set a goal and then achieve it, the best thing you can do for yourself is to celebrate your success, by rewarding yourself with anything you feel like doing. Celebrating yourself will help you to create the motivation for the next goal.


These are the steps that I always put into action, which help me to get rid of procrastination. If you also practice these steps too, you will be able to eliminate procrastination away from your life.
